IEBC BRAND

IEBC came to life after the fall of ECK which lost credibility with lots of experience in general elections. The new face of an electoral  commission was unveiled.


A new image was unveiled. The logo come in to help understand who they are in Kenya and what they do. A logo is the identifying factor for a business, institution or an organisation that speaks to potential clients with the presence of brand representatives.This could be the C.E.O. or any other authority. Independent electoral and boundaries commission C.E.O(Isaac Hassan) promotes commission image through representation and not identity per say.

The IEBC brand colors illustrates progress, authority and transparency in their mandate to conduct  a free and fair elections. During launching  of IEBC a sensitization campaign was undertaken  to strengthen the  image , build trust and grow the institution. The branding of IEBC achieved credibility in its childhood age after conducting the referendum in 2010. In 2013 opinion formers teamed up with opinion leaders to discredit IEBC on grounds that the elections where flawed.

Today IEBC stands as an authority in elections and boundaries management. It strengthens Kenya as a democracy and reflects it commitment towards building a community that is united. HOW TO BRAND A SERVICE BUSINESS

Branding a service is very different from branding a product for a variety of reasons, such as:
  • Products are made where services are delivered

Products are impersonal physical items that can be evaluated before you buy them. Services, on the other hand, are very personal. Customers don’t just buy a service, they buy an experience.Services don’t even exist until we buy them. There has to be a level of trust or even a “leap of faith” from the customer before they will buy a service.

How best to brand a service business?

First you have to remember that marketing IS your business and that your customers will experience your brand at every touch point. You can have a great website and award-winning advertising but if you also have an unresponsive receptionist or sales people, everything fails.A team that is reliable to spread the word as it is,they are the companies opinion formers and leaders for that matter.

Consider every step a marketing step

Make sure every employee understands that everything they do is a marketing step to success of the business and affects the perception of the brand.Services usually only have a few connections. Some of them include:
  1. Business card
  2. Website, email marketing and advertising
  3. Brochures, sales sheets
  4. Trade show booths and banners
  5. Reception staff
  6. Sales people
Make sure that all of them reflect how you want your brand positioned and perceived. If every brand connection to a customer could have contact with is effective and “on-brand” you’ll have a better chance of having a prospect, make that emotional “leap of faith” and do business with you. #Branding is one of the most important aspects of any business, large or small, retail or B2B. An effective brand strategy gives you an edge in increasingly competitive markets. But what exactly does “branding” mean? How does it affect a business like yours?

Simply put, your #brand is your promise to your customer. It tells them what they can expect from your products and services, and it differentiates your offering from your competitors’. Your #brand is derived from who you are, who you want to be and who people perceive you to be.
Are you the innovative  #James_Mwangi in your industry? Or the experienced, reliable one? Is your product the high-cost, high-quality option, or the low-cost, high-value option? You can’t be both, and you can’t be all things to all people. Who you are should be based to some extent on who your target customers want and need you to be.

  2. What are the benefits and features of your products or services?
  3. What do your customers and prospects already think of your company?
  4. What qualities do you want them to associate with your company?

Do your research. Learn the needs, habits and desires of your current and prospective customers. And don’t rely on what you think they think.Know what they think.Once you’ve defined your brand, how do you get the word out? Here are a few simple, time-tested tips:

  • Get a great logo. Place it everywhere.
  • Write down your brand messaging. What are the key messages you want to communicate about your brand? Every employee should be aware of your brand attributes.
  • Integrate your brand. Branding extends to every aspect of your business–how you answer your phones, what you or your salespeople wear on sales calls, your e-mail signature, everything.
  • Create a “voice” for your company that reflects your brand. This voice should be applied to all written communication and incorporated in the visual imagery of all materials, online and off. Is your brand friendly? Be conversational. Is it ritzy? Be more formal. You get the gist.
  • Develop a tagline. Write a memorable, meaningful and concise statement that captures the essence of your brand.
  • Design templates and create brand standards for your marketing materials. Use the same color scheme, logo placement, look and feel throughout. You don’t need to be fancy, just consistent.
  • Be true to your brand. Customers won’t return to you–or refer you to someone else–if you don’t deliver on your brand promise.
  • Be consistent. I placed this point last only because it involves all of the above and is the most important tip I can give you. If you can’t do this, your attempts at establishing a brand will fail.
